PT BUSINESS/REAL ESTATE LITIGATION ATTORNEY

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • CALIFORNIA BAR LICENSE
  • EXPERIENCE: 3-7 years of business and/or real estate litigation experience in LA County courts in a local law firm.
  • EDUCATION: JD from an accredited law school.
  • LOCATION: Live and work experience in LA County.
  • COMMUNICATION: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Spanish Speaking Optional.
  • CHARACTER:
    • Detailed oriented, diligent, and able to “hit the ground running.”
    • Accept criticism and direction well.
    • Ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills and work ethic.
    • Professional appearance.
  • TECHNOLOGY: Advanced skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe, Dropbox, Zoom, Slack, Asana, Lexis, Rutters Guides. Home office in a quiet professional location (no background noise).
  • REFERENCES: Trustworthy, dependable, and clear background report.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Applicants must have experience and the ability to complete the following independently:

  • COURT APPEARANCES (Phone, Video, and/or In-Person – only if required)
    • Case Management Conferences
    • Status/Trial Setting/Final Status Conferences
    •  Motions
    • Depositions/Mediations/Trials
  • RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT:
    • Supervise Paralegals assisting with work product including Pleadings, Motions re: Service, Motions re: Default, Post Judgment, etc.
    • Communicate with clients by telephone, zoom video, and/or email.
    • Communicate/ meet & confer with opposing counsel.
  • RESEARCH, DRAFTING, & DOCUMENTATION
    • Review case files including intakes, court case summaries, court filings, evidence, etc.
    • Legal Research Memos using: Rutter’s Guides, Annotated Codes, Lexis/Westlaw, Google, etc.
    • Draft and respond to legal documents:
      • Opposing Counsel Correspondence.
      • Discovery/Responses/Motions
      • Trial Documents: Briefs, Witness Lists, and Exhibit Lists
    • Assign, supervise, revise, and sign all substantive documents that paralegals prepare.
    • Document billable hours per client per month pursuant to approved budgets.
    • Other projects as assigned by Managing Attorney.
